Google Pixel 9 Pro : Design and Display

The Pixel 9 Pro sports a refined design, staying true to the sleek aesthetic of the Pixel line while making subtle improvements. The device features a premium matte glass back and a polished aluminum frame, which adds a touch of sophistication. Available in three new colors—Obsidian Black, Frosted White, and a captivating Jade Green—the design is both modern and ergonomic.

The front of the device is dominated by a stunning 6.8-inch OLED display with a 1440p resolution, offering vibrant colors and deep contrasts. The 120Hz adaptive refresh rate ensures buttery-smooth scrolling and transitions, perfect for gaming, content consumption, or daily multitasking. The Pixel 9 Pro also features Google’s unique Always-On Display with enhanced at-a-glance widgets that keep vital information easily accessible.
I actually like the camera bar, perhaps because of how quickly it might feel outdated in a few years. It’s distinct and currently very trendy, with bold, almost exaggerated lines and curves. I’m a fan of the design and eager to see how it develops in future models.

Google Pixel 9 Pro : Performance and Hardware

Under the hood, the Pixel 9 Pro is powered by Google’s custom-made Tensor G4 chip. The third-generation Tensor processor is designed to maximize AI and machine learning capabilities, offering impressive speed and efficiency in handling tasks. Whether you’re editing videos, running graphics-intensive games, or multitasking between apps, the Pixel 9 Pro handles it all effortlessly.
The Pixel 9 Pro packs 16GB of RAM, which is astonishing for a mobile device. I won’t even mention how much less my first laptop had—let’s just say it was nowhere near that. To put it in perspective, 16GB is more than what most smartphones offer. You’d have to go for a specialized gaming phone like the Asus ROG Phone 8 Pro and pay extra to surpass the Pixel 9 Pro’s memory.
The device comes with three storage variants: 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB, all paired with 12GB of RAM. The inclusion of UFS 4.0 storage boosts data transfer speeds, ensuring rapid app loading and file transfers.

Google Pixel 9 Pro Camera : A Game Changer

Google’s Pixel lineup has always set the benchmark for smartphone photography, and the Pixel 9 Pro takes this legacy even further. The rear camera setup includes a 50MP main sensor, a 48MP ultra-wide lens, and a 12MP periscope telephoto lens offering up to 10x optical zoom.

The Pixel 9 Pro introduces upgraded video features powered by Google’s AI advancements. While the camera already leverages AI for what Google dubs 'Super Res Zoom,' allowing for up to 30x photo zoom, these capabilities now extend to video as well. The video camera can now use 'Super Res Zoom' to achieve up to 20x zoom during recordings.
For video enthusiasts, the Pixel 9 Pro supports 8K recording at 30fps and 4K at 60fps, with enhanced stabilization and HDR capabilities for cinematic footage.
The new computational photography enhancements, enabled by the Tensor G4, deliver sharper details, more accurate colors, and improved low-light performance. Features like Magic Eraser and Real Tone have been fine-tuned, providing more accurate skin tones and easier background removal. The improved Super Res Zoom and Night Sight modes are especially noteworthy, offering DSLR-like results in a smartphone form factor.

Google Pixel 9 Pro : Software and Battery Life

Running Android 14 out of the box, the Pixel 9 Pro delivers a pure and fluid Android experience, free from bloatware. Google has also included a suite of exclusive Pixel features, such as the updated Assistant, advanced voice typing, and the new “AI Sense” mode, which enhances app predictions and automates routine tasks.
When you purchase the Pixel 9 Pro, Google throws in a year of its Google One AI Premium plan, which includes 2TB of cloud storage. This plan also grants access to Google Gemini Advanced, the enhanced version of the Gemini model. Since I’ve been a subscriber since its launch, I can’t really compare Gemini Advanced to the standard Gemini, but I’ve been satisfied with the results it delivers so far.
The phone’s battery optimization is smarter than ever, adjusting power consumption based on usage patterns. The 5,000mAh battery supports 30W fast charging, 25W wireless charging, and reverse wireless charging. While the charging speeds might not match some rivals, the battery life is consistently reliable, lasting through a full day of mixed usage.

Google Pixel 9 Pro : Connectivity and Additional Features

The Pixel 9 Pro offers robust connectivity options with support for 5G (both sub-6GHz and mmWave), Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 5.3. The inclusion of the Titan M3 security chip ensures that data and transactions remain secure, while the improved under-display fingerprint sensor offers quicker unlock times.
Google has also upgraded the haptics and speakers, delivering crisp audio and more immersive vibrations, enhancing the overall user experience.

Conclusion : Is the Google Pixel 9 Pro Worth It?

The Google Pixel 9 Pro is a flagship that excels in the areas that matter most—camera quality, software experience, and AI-powered features. While some may point out the absence of bleeding-edge charging speeds or niche hardware features found in other flagships, the Pixel 9 Pro remains a well-rounded device that delivers where it counts.
For Android enthusiasts and those deeply integrated into Google’s ecosystem, the Pixel 9 Pro offers an unbeatable combination of intelligent software, top-tier hardware, and a stellar camera setup. If you’re looking for a smartphone that seamlessly blends performance with smart features, the Pixel 9 Pro should be at the top of your list.
